This submission was presented to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Right to a Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment in response to a formal call for inputs for the thematic report to the 81st Session of the General Assembly. It examines the role of spatial, environmental, and development planning frameworks in advancing or impeding the realisation of the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, with particular focus on SIDS contexts and intergenerational equity. Relevant to environmental lawyers, urban and environmental planners, and human rights practitioners working on climate justice.
